Most people know the story of Bill Gates.
The founder of Microsoft became a multi-billionaire (cue Austin Powers) and one of the wealthiest men ever.
Then what did he do? He quit Microsoft to start several philanthropic efforts. He also gave away over 90% of his money.
Why would he do this? I think most people can figure out that he wanted to make a difference and help people.
We’ve all heard the stories of mega-millionaires who are workaholics. “But why?” is a common response to this. “Why does he/she keep working if they have tons of money…I don’t get it.”
Most of the time, it’s the work…the ‘juice’ or the charge they get out of the journey.
Whether it’s the billionaire businessman turned philanthropist or the mega-millionaire workaholic there is a common thread here:
They have a purpose way beyond the money because they soon come to the realization that the mere pursuit of making money for money’s sake is pretty hollow. For very successful people…
…it ain’t about the money.
You MUST figure out your ‘why’ for wanting to become financially successful. And it must be powerful. Take it from me…merely just ‘wanting to make a lot of money’ will never get you there. Because IF it was enough, wouldn’t you already be there? You may answer this like ‘BS…I’ve had a lot of challenges and I don’t have the money to start a business….’
But guess what? Those are just excuses you tell yourself BASED on the fact that your WHY is not big enough or powerful enough. When your why is big enough you’ll stop the excuses and do whatever it takes. Period.
I know this because I’ve battled this for years. It was a sobering realization after I had quit my business several years ago to go traveling. It was a great experience but guess what happened? I became bored and felt like I wasn’t giving back.
I didn’t have a PURPOSE.
I felt lost.
This is EXACTLY why most lottery winners go broke.
Find your why…then align it with your actions AND your morals. And you will win.
Keep in mind this great quote by the Dalai Lama when asked what surprises him most about humanity:
“Man. Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.”
Who doesn't pal? If you have a rich Uncle, you're good to go. If not, then you better get real and realize that latest 'opportunity' on that Facebook group where you can make 300 bucks over and over for doing nothing is complete bullshit. ARE YOU READY TO GET REAL?? >> >> >> >>
