The internet is an interesting beast.
Everyone online seems consumed with ‘getting theirs’ ….and getting it now.
Especially the younger generation (yep, I’m getting older!). But this is hardly anything new.
But here’s a problem that I notice:
I’m constantly seeing people jumping from opportunity to opportunity. They ‘try’ something…it doesn’t work in 6 weeks (or even three weeks) and they’re off to something else.
In some of my conversations I’ve actually had people tell me “this is the way it works now”.
Is that so?
Did you know that the average starting salary for a college graduate (as of 2016) is $50,556?
In its most recent survey, the National Association of Colleges and Employers found that for 10 broad degree categories ranging from engineering to communications, 2016 graduates are projected to have an average salary of $50,556. That’s up 5% from 2014, when new grads earned an average of $48,127.
That works out to $4,213 a month. That’s after 4 years (sometimes more) of college.
So when someone gripes to me that they haven’t made 5K a month in their online business after their 3rd month I shake my head.
My answer? “But you’ll go to college for 4 years, spend $120,000 grand (don’t get me started on THAT), make ZILCH during that time then when you’re done you hope to make 50K a year working for someone else.”
“Yet this ‘online thing’ doesn’t work.” you say to me?
I’ve seen people start their online business, run it in their spare time and they started making between 3-4,000 dollars by month 6.
Did they have to work hard? Damn right they did!!
Yet so many demand ‘I need 3 thousand this month…now!’ .
What if it took you 4 years to reach 4-5K a month part time in your own biz?
Would you still commit to it?
It’s stunning to me how many say “probably not.”
The Bottom Line: So many don’t achieve success in their home business because they do not start with realistic expectations.
Here’s the sobering truth: Business success takes time. It’s always been this way and will always be this way.
Or you can work for someone else (after going in to debt for 100K) for 50 thou’ a year.
I know what I’m going to do.
Oftentimes you are not ready for certain successes in your life.
When I was a professional drummer in my early twenties I was consumed with ‘making it big’. I wanted musical success, adoration and wealth. I worked my ass off. But it never happened for me near the level I had envisioned for myself. Now, I’m not saying ‘the universe’ kept me from succeeding. I did a lot of things wrong that didn’t help my pursuits. But looking back now I am grateful for how things turned out. Why? I was nowhere near mature enough to handle all the trappings that success in the entertainment industry throw at you.
Sure, I sometimes wonder…”what if”? But I am content how things turned out overall. And having the perspective of being older now I can look back and honestly say to myself “I’m sure glad I didn’t pursue that life.”
Just remember, work hard but you must be patient. Certain things that you work for will happen when you are ready, work hard enough and keep at it. If you’ve read my stuff for any length of time, you know that I largely do not subscribe to ‘things happening for a reason’. The real reason ‘things happen’ is due to your commitment and consistency…and knowing when to pivot when things clearly aren’t working.[put in insta meme on not bypassing the journey]
Business…and life is a journey. A learning experience. Work hard and enjoy THE PROCESS. Remember, the internet is not an ATM or a slot machine.
Your internet business is just that…a business.
Give it the commitment and time that it not only deserves, but REQUIRES.
There is no other way, no matter what anyone tells you.
Who doesn't pal? If you have a rich Uncle, you're good to go. If not, then you better get real and realize that latest 'opportunity' on that Facebook group where you can make 300 bucks over and over for doing nothing is complete bullshit. ARE YOU READY TO GET REAL?? >> >> >> >>
