I’ve had several people ask what audio setup I use when cutting my videos using my iPhone. When I tell them I use an inexpensive setup to plug the mic straight in to the iPhone itself they want to know how.
(NOTE: Some use audio syncing and extra equipment but I wanted something simpler and easy)
Today I recorded a video to show you what I do:
NOTE: I’ve linked to the equipment I’m using below and on my Youtube video. I also have a few extra links for mics that are cheaper than mine.[00:28 of video] You need 4 pieces of equipment to make this work:
– Apple iPhone (I’ve used this setup with an iPhone 6S Plus and the 8 Plus…which I use now)
– Atolla Powered USB Hub
– Apple Lightning to USB Camera Adapter
– Audio Technica Audio-Technica AT2020USB+ Cardioid Condenser USB Microphone, Black (NOTE: You don’t need a mic this expensive)
– Any basic gorilla-style tripod
Optional Microphone Options:
I want to also note that on part of the video (where I’m going through the demonstration) I’m actually using the Apple earbud mic and it sounds pretty damn good! So if you didn’t want to even go through this setup you would be fine using that. 🙂
There you go…a straight-forward setup that will improve your audio without having to use audio syncing and extra equipment. If you have any questions make sure to comment below.
