Be Very Thankful For Your Freedom, And That You Can Blog

| October 1, 2010 | 1 Comment

I'm Blogging This Of course we humans can tend to take things we are used to for granted. Living in freedom is probably the most important one, and most would agree.

But for Hossein Derakhshan, this is tragically not the case. Because Derakhshan was just sentenced to 19 years in an Iranian jail…for blogging.

Yep. Blogging.

Derakhshan was accused of spreading propaganda and promoting potential violence against Iran, among other charges. They were seeking the death penalty. He has been known to be controversial in his country for his dissenting views, but basically he was railroaded by Iran for promoting democracy.

Nice.

Such is the world we live in, where still there are countries who drape the blanket of oppression and fear upon its people. We can only pray that it changes…someday.

So be thankful for your freedom, and never take it for granted.

And be thankful that you can blog, or do whatever it is that you do.

Very well put Ken. We are all so busy with our everyday lives that we seldom stop to think just how good we have it. There’s a big chunk of this world that don’t have the freedoms we have.
